Hey there! Need help applying them awesome vinyl decals? Here is my quick and simple tutorial on how to do just that.
Applying vinyl decal sticker is as easy and rewarding at the end. So lets start off on the things we are going to need for this application.
First you are going to need a credit card (I just used a gift card), a cleaner, some paper towels, and of course the decal.
For this example we will be placing the vinyl decal on a car window. If you are planning applying your decal on anything other than a car window, this process is pretty similar. The only difference is preparation process which involves cleaning the surface of where the decal will be place. So make sure you use the correct method of cleaning the surface. For this demonstration, I’ll be using an auto glass cleaner to clean the surface.
After getting the equipment, figure out where you will be placing the decal. I’m going to place my decal on this rear quarter panel window of a BRZ.
*IMPORTANT* If you are planning on place your decal on a car window, make sure not to place the decal in an area that will disrupt your view while driving.
Once you find a spot for the decal, time to clean the surface of where it will be placed. This is important to remove any dirt and oil that would prevent the decal from sticking properly. So make sure it is properly clean and dried before applying the decal. The cleaner it is, the better the decal would stick and last longer.
After cleaning the surface, SLOWLY peel off the backing from the decal. Make sure all of the vinyl sticks to the top clear layer. Be careful not to touch vinyl. The top layer is fine to touch.
This part gets a bit tricky. Try to align the decal the way you want it on the surface. But don’t stick the whole decal on the window yet. Take your credit card and place one end of the decal on surface. With pressure, slide the credit card from on side of the decal to the other end. SLOWLY. This would lessen the chances of getting air bubbles in the decal.
Now that the decal is on, slide your card from side to make sure the decal is making full contact with the surface. It is good to focus more the edges and tips of the decal as they tend to lift off easily.
Time for the finishing touch. SLOWLY peel off the top clear layer. Make sure none of the vinyl pieces stick to the top layer. If a piece is sticking to the top layer, try flatting the top layer with your finger with pressure and try peeling it off again.
Yay! Decal is now applied! And it looks sick! XP Just make sure there aren’t any vinyl sticking up from the surface. Just flatten them if there is any.
*Extra info*
These vinyl decals are made for indoor and outdoors.
They can last for about two years outside on a car window.
