Misc projects:
Swapped M3 springs with original touring springs, as they’re taller and a bit stiffer:
Delete broken antenna:
Fuel pump failed, so I replaced it with a Walbro 255:

I pretty much replaced all of the seals, sensors, and regular wear items.
Sent the injectors off for rebuilding and flowmatching:
Replaced the rod bearings with WPC treated OE bearings:
Cut off the rubber hoses from the composite fittings, then installed viton o-rings and silicone hoses:
Replaced the timing chain and loctited the oil pump nut:
Rear main seal:
AN fitting for the updated oil return line:
VANOS rattle procedure and bulletproofed the whole VANOS system (again):
Spark plugs:
Getting put back together:

I checked the compression in each cylinder and here are the results:
Cylinder 1: 180 psi
Cylinder 2: 185 psi
Cylinder 3: 190 psi
Cylinder 4: 175 psi
Cylinder 5: 160 psi
Cylinder 6: 180 psiCylinder 5 was a little worrisome. It’s still higher than 75% of 190 (142.5 psi) so I didn’t install a new head gasket or piston rings.

This is when I built my Harbor Freight mobile garage, where all the magic will happen. It took about 3 hours to do solo, including the extra step of taping up the pipes for peace of mind.

Starting from the rear and moving towards the front, I tapped each slip joint into place and wrapped it with electrical tape to keep them together:
